AUSTRALIAN MASTERS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS – DARWIN 9-12 JUNE 2017

THE NT NEEDS YOU!
Athletics underpins all sports with the fundamental movements of running, jumping and throwing. We therefore call on all Territorians to join the NT team to compete at the first Australian Masters Athletics Championships in the Territory to be held over the Queen’s Birthday weekend, 9-12 June 2017.

EVENT
The Australian Masters Athletics Championships is for ages 30+ with five year divisions:
30-34, 35-39, 40-44 etc. up to 95+. Events cove walks, throws, jumps, sprints, hurdles, distance races, steeple chase, cross country, pole vault and multi events. Medals are awarded to the first three Australian place getters and to all OS athletes who place in top three.

Requirements
To compete in the Australian Masters Athletics Championships athletes must be registered to their State or Territory organisation, to the event and wear their State or Territory singlet.

NT Registrations
New NT athletes can become a masters registered athlete for $10, event registration is $50 and $5 for each event and finally a singlet will cost an NT registration $25.

Singlets and NT Team gear
NT athletes can purchase singlets and merchandise at discount prices online through the registration tab on the Championships website or call the Athletics NT office on 08 8945 1979.

COME AND TRY – MINI MEETS
A series of mini meets have been scheduled for Darwin to give all athletes the opportunity to familiarise themselves with event procedures and conditions. These dates are attached and may be referenced at the following site http://www.ntathletics.org.au/Masters/News-Upcoming-Events

COACHING and TRAINING in DARWIN
To work with a coach and with other athletes at the Akuna Springs track, Arafura Stadium in the Marrara Sporting Complex. Please contact the Athletics NT office on 08 8945 1979 for further details but generally training takes place as follows.

Sprints and Hurdles – Monday, Wednesday 5:30–7:00pm
Middle and Distance Running – Wednesday 6:00pm, Monday 5:00pm, Thursday 5:00pm, Friday 6:00am
Throws – Sunday 4:00-5:30pm, Wednesday 4:30-6:00pm
Jumps – Sunday 4:00-5:30pm, Monday 5:00-6:30pm Wednesday 5:00-6:30pm
Multi Events – TBA

NT TEAM UNIFORM and MERCHANDISE
NT singlets, Polos, T-shirts and Caps can all be purchased at a discount rate once registered as an NT team member. You will get discount prices on line as an NT registration or purchase from the Athletics NT office at the Akuna Springs Track, Arafura Stadium in the Marrara Sporting Complex. The general public can also purchase items.

EVENT and AWARDS DINNER
Each year at the Australian Championship an Awards Dinner is held to honour the outstanding results and achievements of athletes, officials and administrators.

This year the awards dinner will be held at Club Tropicana Resort with a festival themed cocktail dinner, cash bar and live music. The cost for the Event and Awards Dinner is $60.00 and tickets can be purchased online with registration. It’s a chance for all athletes to celebrate together.
